Now Professor Emeritus at the University of Toronto, Dr. Jordan B. Peterson has dedicated much of his career — and life — to teaching. Having been bestowed the title of honor in recognition of his service, leadership, research, and teaching, Peterson’s distinguished career and sphere of influence has set him apart. His instructional practices did not end when he exited the classroom; rather, it seems they had only just begun. Peterson continues teaching on a variety of subjects outside the classroom, just as he does in his new series, “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/show/success">Success</a>,” available on DailyWire+. 
Today, Peterson remains steeped in his roots, leaning on his knowledge of psychology, religion, philosophy, and literature. At the same time, he will tackle any topic of conversation and answer any question posed to him; he is not one to shy away from a challenge. Addressing the topic of success, however, is no challenge to Peterson, but it is one he parses with careful consideration. His assertions are not without support, and he foregrounds his teaching on success with knowledge from his experience, practice, and research. 
The beginning of the third episode opens with Peterson, still seated, reiterating a main point <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/the-making-of-a-leader-dr-jordan-b-peterson-lays-the-foundation-of-success-in-new-series">in the first</a>. He refutes the notion that happiness and the absence of <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/overcoming-fear-that-cripples-peterson-offers-a-way-out-for-those-suffering-from-anxiety">suffering</a> are requirements for success. “Success is not a matter of mere happiness. Success is not a matter of mere absence of suffering” he says, using firm hand gestures that denote his seriousness. People often think they want an easy life, but he counters this idea, saying, “It’s very often the case, when people look back on their lives, they’re happiest about the things they did that were maximally challenging.”
With the happiness and absence of suffering hypothesis cast aside, Peterson identifies optimized suffering as a worthy matter of success instead — specifically, “optimized challenge in the pursuit of maximal integration.” Here, Peterson harkens back to one of his foregrounding teaching topics: being reasonably embedded in <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/dr-jordan-b-peterson-outlines-how-men-and-women-can-be-successful-in-their-respective-natures">a social hierarchy</a>. 
Peterson has long since established the need to be embedded in a hierarchy; without being so, a horrible life expands multidimensionally. In the absence of an intimate partner, a family, any friends, a career or job, all that is left is pain. But Peterson is a problem-solver, not simply a problem-poser. He identifies a problem and almost seems to accept the responsibility of owning it, of solving it. The diagnosis is between the individual and the hierarchy itself.

Taking a lesson he has explicated thoroughly over time — that as deeply social creatures, we must be a harmonious player in a multidimensional symphony of social interaction — Peterson connects this teaching to the point at hand: optimized challenge in the pursuit of maximal integration. When you engage in competition to challenge yourself, you let go of skills that are counterproductive and develop new skills as a consequence of being challenged, he explains. “When you’re playing the game, you’re not just trying to win the game, you’re trying to become a better player while you play it.” Thus, striving to operate at all levels — with a partner, family, community, town, city, nation — in a way that makes you better at those levels is formative of success. 
This means success is not an apex; it is, instead, a journey to pursue. “You think you’re going to hit a pinnacle, and that there’ll be something static about that pinnacle and that you’ll have accomplished something and you’ll be done. Well, the problem with that is, success is not a place you get to and stay.” Again, integration is required. Understanding the idea of process is necessary in order to conceptualize success, to truly understand it. As Peterson knowingly professes, “Wherever you are, you’re definitely not at your final destination.” Recalling people he has met who peaked in high school, Peterson states the truth in this example: many, many years remain to go downhill. Success as an end state is a thought which must be opposed. 
To provide support for these already well-founded truths, Peterson draws on Fyodor Dostoevsky, the nineteenth-century Russian author — one that captured and held Peterson’s attention for decades. In “Notes from Underground,” Dostoevsky posits that if people were provided a worry-free life with nothing but the opportunity to enjoy, they would destroy it within a week just to have something unexpected happen. Though the idea that “if we only had enough, everything would be alright” is foolish, it is, in large part, due to our “history of privation.” Regardless, Peterson knows we are not created for the sole desire of satiation. We are, instead, built for adventure. 
He continues, saying, “That adventure is part and parcel of being pushed to that development edge in the context of, let’s say, the competitive play we have to engage in.” This brings about the issue of a zero-sum attitude — an attitude of limitation, lack, and insufficiency — which must be done away with. Instead, a perspective that hones in on opportunity because “abundance is a consequence of proper social integration and social structure” is needed. Peterson speaks with an air of optimism, asserting that “the world’s an ever expanding set of possibilities.” He is also realistic, acknowledging that people face differing opportunities and limitations, which he lays claim to having witnessed with patients in his <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/back-to-his-roots-peterson-translates-clinical-research-into-practical-steps-for-healing-in-series">psychological practice</a>. But even so, he has encountered people looking for opportunity. He shares a moving story of one patient in particular who “had enough largeness of soul to notice that there were people who were even worse off than her — and then wanted to do something about it.” 
What of those who have been given much? “I think that with each of your talents, they come accompanied by a requisite responsibility,” Peterson says. “Very few gifts come without a price.” There is no shortage of causes for someone’s presumed limitations or constraints, as he makes evident in the list he poses: narrowness of vision and conceptualization, cynicism, bitterness, shallowness, lack of discipline, corrosive self-criticism, excuse-making and rationalization, outright deception, and sins of omission. People sometimes impose constraints on themselves for self-justifying reasons, not a direct indication of their environment. 
When self-justification of constraints becomes the reason for limitations, comparison can easily ensue. Comparison has the potential to lead to envy, but “casual envy is not that wise,” Peterson warns. Here, he tells a story of triumph, of a man who faced constant trouble, “that kind of tragic trouble that never goes away,” but managed to create a successful life for himself. Peterson knows this upward striving feat can be accomplished by having a default proposition of knowing there are ways you can “get your act together” that would “open the world up to you.” 
Peterson ends <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/dr-jordan-b-peterson-establishes-a-path-out-of-depression-in-new-series">with hope</a>, naming “the courage of hope” as part of success. He seems to know the viewer may tilt their head in confusion at the idea of hope being associated with success, but his reasoning makes sense. Seeing that life is cataclysmic yet still daring to hope is, indeed, courageous. “The development and cultivation of that existential courage, that’s also core to what constitutes success — and that’s the practice of virtue.”
Whether intentionally or by happenstance, Peterson comes full circle and gives the viewer a chance to embark on a journey toward optimized challenge. He inquires, “How much of what isn’t working for you in your life is a consequence of your failure to seize the moment and blindness to the opportunities right in front of you?” 
Consider the call to seize the moment, identify the opportunities in your path, engage in what is maximally challenging, and pursue your adventure to success.

A clinical psychologist, Peterson approaches the Bible both “scientifically and spiritually,” offering new insights into well-known biblical stories like that of Cain and Abel, the Tower of Babel, and Moses leading the Israelites out of Egypt.

Jordan Peterson’s ‘We Who Wrestle With God’ Takes #1 Spot On Amazon

Pennsylvania Democrat Governor Josh Shapiro, considered one of the favorites for the 2028 Democrat presidential nomination, took the side of a court that ruled against Democratic officials who defied state law — but condemned such actions by officials after the court’s ruling.
On Monday, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruled that counties must reject undated and misdated ballots after Democrat election officials openly defied the order last week. The officials’ actions came as the recount of the race between Democratic Sen. Bob Casey and Republican Dave McCormick began. Casey would not concede after multiple outlets, including the Associated Press and Decision Desk HQ, called the race for McCormick.
Last week, Democrats in the Bucks County Office of Commissioners <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/people-violate-laws-any-time-they-want-dem-election-officials-state-willingness-to-defy-law-ahead-of-recount" target="_blank" rel="noopener">rejected</a> their Republican colleague’s motion to stop “noncompliant” ballots from being counted. The Democrats’ move came after the commonwealth’s Supreme Court granted the GOP’s request to block the counting of mail ballots without dates.
Last Thursday, Gene DiGirolamo, the sole Republican on the three-person panel, introduced a motion to reject the attempt to count what the GOP <a href="https://www.yahoo.com/news/mccormick-campaign-sues-bucks-county-165814957.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener">called</a> “noncompliant” ballots. In response, <a href="https://bucksdemocrats.org/who-we-are/our-elected-officials/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Democrat</a> Diane Marseglia, the chair of the commission, dismissed the proposal out of hand. “Not going to second that, mostly because I think we all know that precedent by a court doesn’t matter in this country and people violate laws any time they want,&#8221; she said. &#8220;So for me, if I violate this law it’s because I want the court to pay attention to it.”
“It is critical to the rule of law that individual counties and municipalities and their elected and appointed officials, like any other parties, obey orders of this Court,” Justice David Wecht wrote in a 4-3 decision, according to <a href="https://thehill.com/regulation/court-battles/4996749-pennsylvania-supreme-court-undated-mail-ballots/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Hill</a>. Casey’s campaign intervened to oppose the effort to stop undated mail ballots from being counted.
Shapiro issued no statement about the Democrat officials’ actions until the court ruled against his party. He blamed a “lack of clarity” due to “certain legislative actors refusing to act on critical election reforms” for the issue having to be resolved by the courts.

Only after the court’s decision did Shapiro write, “As we move forward, I want to be clear: any insinuation that our laws can be ignored or do not matter is irresponsible and does damage to faith in our electoral process. The rule of law matters in this Commonwealth, and as I have always said, it is critical for counties and officials in both parties to respect it with both their rhetoric and their actions.”

The following is an edited transcript of a recent interview between Daily Wire Editor-in-Chief John Bickley and Harmeet Dhillon, managing partner at The Dhillon Law Group.
Post-election polling shows that the <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/how-kamalas-focus-on-gender-ideology-cost-her-the-election" target="_blank" rel="noopener">transgender issue</a> was a top three issue that drove voters to Trump and away from Harris. The data comes as more states are shutting down transgender procedures for minors and lawsuits are beginning to mount against healthcare professionals who’ve pushed the trans agenda.

JOHN: Joining us to discuss is Harmeet Dhillon, whose legal firm the Dhillon Law Group has been leading the fight against potentially permanent procedures performed on children. Harmeet, thanks for coming on.
HARMEET: Thanks for having me.
JOHN: First, many have said that the trans agenda – including boys in girls sport and trans surgeries for prisoners and illegal immigrants – was a &#8220;sleeper issue&#8221; this year. We&#8217;ve done some <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/harris-pledged-to-use-taxpayer-money-to-fund-sex-change-surgeries-for-illegal-aliens-in-detention-report" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reporting</a> at Daily Wire about this. Do you see data that it did in fact impact this election?
HARMEET: Well, I would say the data that I saw was from the Trump campaign and its allies, and they certainly focused hard on that issue. And I&#8217;m sure that was in response to data. We&#8217;ve done some work, a lot of work actually. We&#8217;ve been a national leader on the issue of suing doctors who mutilate girls and also representing parents whose civil rights are violated by not having access to the information they need to parent their children properly on this issue and many other issues. So we&#8217;ve done a lot of litigation on it. It did pick up in the national pulse. Our client, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/to-the-la-times-get-a-life-i-have-lives-to-save" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Chloe Cole</a>, has been prominently featured by some messaging on these issues. She&#8217;s a girl who detransitioned, now a young woman, and is suing Kaiser Permanente here in California over that. She&#8217;s been a landmark voice on these issues, testifying around the country. I know it has motivated legislatures to change the law and that I think is definitely a talking point in those states. A lot of red states, purple states — it&#8217;s a huge issue. It&#8217;s not a huge issue here in California, even on the opposite side. I don&#8217;t see a lot of activists going to bat for this issue. And so I think we are really within a striking distance of President Trump being able to severely cut back on the prevalence of this issue through cutting back federal funding or other ways to do it. For once, America needs to catch up with Europe and the rest of the world where these procedures are simply not being done, for the most part, on children because they don&#8217;t work.

JOHN: Right, there’s been dramatic movement away from these sorts of procedures in several European countries. Are you seeing progress on this issue in the courts, legally?
HARMEET: No, it&#8217;s too early in the courts. We literally filed the first, second, and third lawsuits on this issue in the country. I think other lawyers are joining us and so these cases are winding their way through the court system or through arbitration because Kaiser tries to force people into arbitration – so do other medical providers. And one of the issues, why there are so few cases, is because there&#8217;s a statute of limitations that are very short and really keep the window very narrow for these young women, largely women, to file lawsuits. And so it&#8217;s heartbreaking, the number of people we simply can&#8217;t help, because of these statute of limitations issues. I do think that&#8217;s going to make a difference. But the bigger and faster and more effective long-term difference is going to be legislatures banning these procedures on children. Medical boards taking away the licenses of doctors who commit medical malpractice, which I believe most of these doctors are doing. I mean, literally you have cases where people go in, some guidance counselor sends them for one session with some rubber stamper who then goes and gets the girl&#8217;s breasts cut off. It&#8217;s shocking and outrageous. You have to go through more hassle to get liposuction, I believe, than to get your breasts cut off as a young girl. So, it&#8217;s insane and it needs to stop. We shouldn&#8217;t rely on the courts and lawyers. We should ask Republican legislatures — and Democrat legislatures, frankly, if they care about humans — to stop this practice.
JOHN: Well, we&#8217;ve seen decisive action here in <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/tennessee-asks-scotus-to-uphold-ban-on-trans-surgeries-for-minors-amid-doj-challenge" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Tennessee </a>to shut down these potentially permanent procedures for children – that’s been really heartening for those working to end it. With both a precise view of success from an individual’s perspective and with consideration of success in society at large, Dr. Jordan B. Peterson explains how favorable outcomes are possible in his new series on DailyWire+. In the second episode, “<a href="https://www.dailywire.com/episode/success-for-men-women" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Success for Men and Women</a>,” Peterson investigates the markings of success for both genders, distinguishing the differences between the two while also illuminating their cooperation together. 
Existentialism, a philosophical theory centered on experience, the individual, and existence, is one to which Peterson has tied himself for years. Yet he differs from some existentialist thinkers in that he is not only able to see the need for an individual to find one’s place in a social hierarchy, but he is also able to articulate that need — and the reasons for it. In other words, <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/exposure-therapy-radical-transformation-and-embracing-reality" target="_blank" rel="noopener">reality</a> does very much take place outside an individual, and becoming part of the universal hierarchy of harmony is a prerequisite for success.

Spoken with the knowledge and experience of a teacher, Peterson sets forth an example after reiterating the need to be <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/the-making-of-a-leader-dr-jordan-b-peterson-lays-the-foundation-of-success-in-new-series" target="_blank" rel="noopener">integrated into a hierarchy of social community</a>, turning a potential philosophical convolution into an understandable realistic practicality. Where can we look to see an example of this universal hierarchy of harmony? “You see it most fundamentally — experience it most fundamentally — in the case of music,” he says. “Music is intrinsically meaningful, and that intrinsic meaning of music isn’t subject to rational criticism. It circumvents rational criticism. It’s more fundamentally real than anything rational criticism can undermine. And that’s really something remarkable.” Remarkable, indeed. 
An appreciator of live music and a collector of artwork, Peterson’s personal passions are not limited to his academic subject areas. <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/the-eternal-question-of-human-beings-how-do-you-live-in-the-world" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Music and art</a> have held his attention for quite some time. To explain, he offers an analogy, comparing musical patterns to the structure of the world: “Music replicates the structure of the world in that the world is made out of hierarchies of patterns, and those patterns can interact harmoniously. That’s what happens in a musical piece. And then the musical piece will compel you to align yourself with that harmonious pattern of movement. And that emergent harmonious alignment? Well, people love that.” Quoting Walter Pater, Peterson recollects the notion that art aspires to the condition but magnifies it, saying, “All life aspires to the condition of music.” 
Almost as though he is able to prophetically discern a potential counterargument from viewers, Peterson poses a counter on his viewers’ behalf, asking, “Why shouldn’t it be all about me?  Why shouldn’t I just be selfish?” This, of course, depends on your definition of “selfish,” which he defines, morals aside, inquiring, “Do you mean that the you that wants something right now should always get it? Because that’s actually going to be problematic for the extended you.” He contends that you should not be selfish — because it is not in your interest. Selfishness has a way of leading to betrayal, one that betrays others and <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/commit-to-a-long-term-plan-to-have-the-adventure-of-your-life" target="_blank" rel="noopener">your future self</a>. 
When playing a game of football or the game of life, you win by supporting your fellow teammates, trying hard to win, having enough <a href="https://www.dailywire.com/news/why-a-change-of-plans-causes-emotional-destabilization" target="_blank" rel="noopener">emotional coherency</a>, and showing some magnificence of character. These pointers are understood easily enough as Peterson outlines how to win; at the same time, his explanation of how emotions take hold of an individual is psychologically founded. Rather than think of a person as impulsive, it is possible to consider impulse itself as gripping the identity of someone so completely that the person identifies with the impulse. To notice the hold impulsivity has, you must be psychologically sound — and introspective. Otherwise, anger, for example, may convince you that you are no more than anger, when in actuality, this is just “the fragmentary motivational state of anger.” 
Here, Peterson transitions to a discussion of success as it relates to both genders. (Emotions, after all, take center stage in a relationship.) “We’re checking each other out for this sort of higher-order regulation capacity all the time in ways we don’t understand at all.” Delving into the differences of success between men and women, he recognizes we “probably don’t understand that as well as we might” — though we do have a starting point. Peterson addresses the research-proven and easily observable fact that “more successful women are intimidating to men,” whereas success in regards to men is “the primary hallmark of attractiveness to women.” 
Being socioeconomically successful is an indication of competence — not wealth. Women’s motivation for seeking a partner who is socioeconomically successful is indicative of their attraction to competence, which Peterson identifies as “an issue to be considering, for men who are trying to contemplate what might constitute success.” Though he acknowledges how the opposite gender views success when considering attractiveness (i.e., what men look for in women and, similarly, what women look for in men), he creates a framework of success for each gender as intertwined with and separate from the other. 
He goes on, explaining, “It’s very useful for men to develop a high level of competence in at least one thing. It’s extraordinarily useful as a disciplinary process.” This is because “men with sense admire competence,” he notes. For the women viewers, he addresses a paradoxical and societal problem with which they must contend: “Women are enjoined to develop their career, and they’re impelled to believe that there’ll be nothing more important for them in their life than their career. Now, that’s a lie. That’s not even true for most people, let alone most women.” 
To be hyper-successful at a career, you must be smart, conscientious, and willing to work 80 hours a week. Peterson recalls working alongside some of the first female professors to be granted tenure at Harvard, the price of which was reflected in their decisions to not have children. Having worked with large law firms as a consultant for about 10 years, he remembers seeing female partners leave those firms around the age of 30, having witnessed their priorities to have shifted once they had children: “The relative importance of their career compared to their children shifts dramatically.” He even cites one client to have thought of having a child as almost decorative — until she had her own. “There isn’t anyone you like better than your children,” he asserts. 
To continue being hypercompetitive and career-driven while also being a dedicated mother puts women in a “terrible bind,” feeling guilty when they are at work and not with their children and when with their children and not at work. The question, according to Peterson, is not “why aren’t there any successful women?” The question to ask is, “Why is there a small percentage of hyper-successful men who are willing to sacrifice everything in pursuit of that success?”
Thoughtfully considering success, Peterson returns to its eight dimensions, concluding that being hyper-successful at a couple of those dimensions has some payoffs, excelling in one far above another can have advantages, but being consistent in all can definitely lead to success. Peterson ends with a look to the future and a reminder to consider what is ahead, stating, “Your viewpoint does shift across time, and your definitions of success have to take that into account.” Framing your proper perspective now will inherently create a proper perspective of the future, which he intends to help viewers do.
